1 cup of brown rice and 2 cups of water
12-16 oz broth
1 tsp ground pickling spice
1 tsp pink salt
1/4 tsp ground cloves
mustard seed
1 thin slice ginger, peeled and minced
1 kg ground meat
1 small head of cabbage, cored and chopped
1 onion, chopped
2 ribs celery, sliced
3/4-1 cup frozen vegetables, thawed (peas and carrots)
1. Begin with the brown rice, but only steamed it halfway, to create a one pot meal. After 20 minutes, add the other ingredients and simmer for 20-30 minutes more.
2. If you prefer to use white rice, you can simmer everything together for 20-30 minutes. The recipe is forgiving, so adjust to taste.
