1 1/2 lbs. smoked sausage of your choice beef, pork, turkey
3 apples, sliced thickly
1/2 large head of red cabbage, shredded
1 medium onion, sliced
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
1/2 cup apple juice
1. Layer in the crock pot or Slow cooker, in this order, smoked sausage cut into large pieces, thickly sliced apples, shredded cabbage, and the sliced onion. Sprinkle the brown sugar, salt, and pepper over all. Lastly, pour the apple juice over the other ingredients.
2. Leave layered, do not stir. Place lid on cooker and cook on low setting for 6 to 8 hours or on high setting for 3 to 4 hours.
