Ingredients:

5 whole granny smith apples (or 1 tin already made)

1 cup sugar

3 tablespoons butter

1 cup flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

¼ teaspoons salt

2 whole eggs

¼ cups milk

1 cup sugar (for sauce)

12 ounces, fluid evaporated milk (for sauce)

Directions:

1. Peel and cut the apples into bite sized chunks. Next cream 1 cup of sugar with the butter. Sift the flour, baking powder and salt together in a different bowl and then add to the creamed mixture. Blend well.

2. Mix the eggs and 1/4 cup milk together in another bowl, then add to the batter.

3. Pour the batter into a greased baking dish and place the apple chunks on top of the batter. Press the apples lightly into the batter – not too far – the batter will rise and cover the apples while baking. Bake 30-50 minutes at 350F.

4. Sauce. Meanwhile, pour 1 cup sugar and can of evaporated milk into a pot. Stir until boiling and remove it from the heat once the sugar has dissolved.

5. When the tart is done, cut small slits into the top of the cake and pour the evaporated milk mixture over the tart, allowing the milk mixture to seep into the slits of the tart.

6. Serve hot with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.

Bon Appetit!
