1 onion, diced
3 carrots, peeled and diced
3 stalks of celery, diced
4-6 cloves garlic, diced (the bigger the better)
couple shakes of red pepper flakes (1/8 tsp)
1 tsp brown sugar
16 ounces diced ham (you can do less, we just like it meaty. or use bacon)
8-10 cups chicken broth
salt and pepper to taste
oh and 1 package of split peas
1. Cook on low 8 hours or high 4 hours!
2. Sauté veggies, add ham, add peas, then add liquid. Bring to boil and simmer for 1 hour.
