1 lb diced ham
2 quarts water
1 cup diced turnip
2 cups yellow split peas
3/4 cup diced carrots
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
1. In a large pot add water, ham and split peas, boil for 30 minutes.
2. Add turnip, carrots and onion, allow to soft boil(simmer) for 2 hours stirring every 15-20 minutes.
