Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup of crisco (1)
  • 1/4 c. boiling water (that is not a misprint use boiling water) (1)
  • 1 tbs. milk (1)
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • a pinch of salt
  • 3 gala apples (filling)
  • 6 honey crisp apples (filling)
  • peel, core and slice your apples (filling)
  • juice of 1/2 lemon, to keep the apples from turning brown (filling)
  • 1/4 cup white sugar (filling)
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar (filling)
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon (filling)

Directions

  1. Mix together (1) and cut in 2 cups all purpose flour a pinch of salt. Do not over mix, the more you mix the tougher it gets so just combine and form into 2 balls and roll between waxed paper.
  2. Toss the apples with the other ingredients to coat. Fill your pie put a few dots of butter, top with the second crust and bake at 350 for 1 & 1/2 hours. If you are making a smaller pie you may only need to bake for 1 hour or until you see the juices are bubbling.

Tip

Cut the fruit evenly and cool the baked pie fully so the juices can thicken.
