Ingredients:

185 grams butter

1 cup caster sugar

1 egg

1 egg yolk (extra)

2 tsp vanilla extract

2 1/2 cups plain flour

1 tsp custard powder

Directions:

1. Beat together the butter, vanilla extract and caster sugar until light and fluffy.

2. Add the plain flour, custard powder, egg yolk and egg and mix until the dough is combined. Lightly knead the dough and wrap in plastic wrap and place in the fridge for half an hour.

3. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F / 177 degrees C / Gas 4 Moderate. Roll out the dough (it's easier to roll it out between two pieces of baking paper) until nice and thin. Use cooking cutters to cut out the required shapes.

4. Place on a baking tray lined with baking paper and bake for 10 minutes or until golden. Decorate as desired!
