Ingredients:
2(8 ounce) blocks pepper jack cheese, shredded
3- large jalapenos, diced (can seed them if you want it milder)
1/2 cup flour
1 large egg
1 cup buttermilk
1 1/2 cup bread crumbs
1 tsp cayenne pepper
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp garlic powder
oil for frying
Directions:
- 1. In a large bowl combine your shredded cheese and jalapenos. Shape cheese mixture into about 1 1/2" balls, squeezing tightly to compress. Place on a cookie sheet and freeze for about 30 minutes
- 2. Meanwhile preheat deep fryer or large pot of oil to 350 degrees F. Once chillied add flour to a bowl. In another bowl mix together egg and buttermilk. Lastly in a 3rd bowl stir together bread crumbs and seasonings.
- 3. Start by rolling frozen cheese balls, into the flour, dip in egg mixture and then coat in breadcrumbs. Fry in batches for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown.
- 4. Drain on a paper towel. Serve with your favorite dipping sauce.
