Ingredients:

2 cups all-purpose flour

2 cups granulated sugar

1 stick of butter (not margarine)

1/2 cup crisco shortening

1 cup water

4 tablespoons or 1/4 cup cocoa powder

2 eggs beaten

1/2 cup buttermilk

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 stick butter (icing)

6 tablespoons milk (icing)

4 tablespoons or 1/4 cup cocoa powder (icing)

3 3/4 cups powdered sugar (icing)

2 teaspoons vanilla (icing)

1 cup chopped pecans (icing)

Directions:

1. Sift together in large mixing bowl first 2 ingredients. Put in pan, bring to boil, then add it to the flour/sugar mixture next 4. Add to the bowl next 4.

2. Beat well, pour into 9X12 baking pan.

3. Bake for 25 minutes in 400° oven.

4. While cake is baking make the icing. Put in pan first 3, heat until melted then add next 3. Pour and spread onto hot cake as soon as it comes out of the oven, then cover immediately with foil to keep moist.
