4 cups broth: shrimp, seafood, vegetable, chicken or turkey
1/4-1/2 cup prepared roux
1 bag frozen okra, thawed overnight
1 small onion, chopped
2 ribs celery, chopped
chopped bell pepper
2 cloves garlic, chopped
1 - 1 1/2 tsp pink salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp thyme
1/4 - 1/2 tsp cayenne (opt)
1 bay leaf
1 raw shrimp, deveined and peeled is preferable
1. Turn Crock Pot to low and add broth, roux and okra while you prep. Add vegetables and seasoning.
2. Cook on low 6-7 hours. Add shrimp for an additional 30 minutes. Turn to warm so the shrimp does not continue to cook. Serve with steamed rice and/or potato salad.
